The Mayor's Link to Local Companies

The Mayor's Link to Local Companies (LLC) was lauched by Mayor Waugh in September, 2007 in an effort to encourage business retention and expansion in the Heath community. Statistics show that approximately 78% of job growth comes from businesses already located within a city. Thus, the primary goals of the LLC program are: fostering a cooperative working relationship between City officials and Heath's businesses; gaining insight into the company's future plans; and, most of all, thanking them for being part of our business community.

If you would like to schedule a LLC visit for your business, email the City's Economic Development Team, at: heathcityhall@heathohio.gov

PURPOSE AND GOALS:

  • Since approximately 70 - 80% of job growth comes from businesses already located within a community, business retention is the most important facet of the Mayor’s LLC.
  • The program’s goal is to show our local companies that the City of Heath is committed to being business-friendly.
  • The number one priority of the Mayor’s LLC is to say “thank you” to our businesses! We want to convey the message, “We appreciate you being located in Heath and contributing to the economy.”
  • During visits, companies have the opportunity to discuss issues of concern and learn more about how government works to support them.
  • Many businesses assert that local governments never visit them. One of the primary goals of this program is to change the impression that local government doesn’t care and to develop more cooperative working relationships with the business community.
  • Through this program, we hope to gain insights into current economic conditions, as well as the challenges faced by particular industries.

VISITATION FORMAT:

  • The Visit Report Form is used to guide the conversation with the business representative. Data gathered from the visit is confidential, although it will be aggregated in quarterly and year-end reports that summarize the feedback and give direction for follow-up.
  • The Mayor uses the form to find out about the business and their local functions.
  • The LLC team solicits feedback from the company about how they perceive local government services.
  • The LLC team shares information about current government initiatives, giving specific details about the things various city departments are doing that will either help or impact the local business community.
  • The Visit Report Form will be utilized to indicate if follow-up is needed in a specific area (municipal services, financing, worker training, etc.). The team also assures the business that they will help facilitate the appropriate connections to suitable departments/agencies.
  • The meeting allows the company representative to discuss any issue they want—“the good, the bad, the ugly.” ALL of it is important feedback for the city!
