Mark Johns was elected mayor of the City of Heath in 2009 and took office in January, 2010.  In his time as mayor, he has focused much of his time and energy toward emphasizing a business-friendly environment in Heath.  Mayor Johns works closely with the economic development community in Licking County to assist with job retention and growth in the area.  He currently chairs the Licking County Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Development Committee, and he is an active participant in the Chamber’s Manufacturer’s Council, as well as the county’s Retention and Expansion Task Force. More

Shortly after taking office, Mayor Johns oversaw the expansion of the city’s pre-1992 CRA zone, enabling more area for employers to utilize the CRA’s financial advantages.  In 2011, he worked with Heath City Council to establish the city’s Municipal Tax Incentive Program, aimed at encouraging new businesses to locate in Heath and existing ones in Heath to expand their work forces.  These stand as just a couple reasons among many which make Heath an attractive location for economic development in Central Ohio.

Mayor Johns also takes an active role in the community, often speaking at area schools to foster a better understanding of city government in Heath’s children.  He works to help a number of community assistance organizations in the area, including the Salvation Army, the Licking County Food Pantry, Mental Heath America of Licking County, and many others.

A graduate of Lancaster High School and Ohio University, Mark and his wife Natalie have two daughters, both of whom attend Heath City Schools.

Whether you are a current citizen looking for information about services or programs within the city or you are visiting to learn more about our town, it is my hope that you will come back to our site regularly to stay informed about Heath's many activities and opportunities.

For our visitors, Heath is a city of approximately 10,000 situated in the heart of Licking County in Central Ohio. Heath is located 35 miles to the east of the State Capital of Columbus. Our community has the feel of a small hometown where residents know their neighbors, but our progressive city has experienced tremendous growth over the past ten years. We anticipate a continuation of that growth trend, and stand ready to welcome new residents and businesses to the Heath community.

For our citizens, our website is just one of many ways we are striving to communicate with you. We pledge to keep this site updated so that you will be informed of current events and have access to pertinent information that you need regarding our city and its services.
