Recycling

We are all aware of the environmental problems facing our planet. Among one of the top issues
is the limited amount of space in our landfills and the dwindling resources on our planet. One
way to stop the harvesting of non-renewable resources, and to save precious room in our
landfills, is to recycle!

Surprisingly, not everyone knows the benefits of recycling. The list is endless, but here
are just a few interesting recycling facts:

	Recycling dramatically reduces the emission of greenhouse gases, which causes global warming.*
	Energy saved from recycling one ton of aluminum is equal to the amount of electricity the average home uses over 10 years.*
	When you toss out one aluminum can you waste as much energy as if you had filled the same can half-full of gasoline and poured it into the ground.*
	Producing one pound of recycled rubber versus one pound of new rubber requires only 29% of the energy. *

Licking County is very active when it comes to recycling and it has never been so easy and convenient. Many local trash haulers, such as Big O Refuse and Waste Management, offer curbside recycling for a minimal fee. You just put your recycling container out with your trash -
how easy is that! If you don't prefer to put your recycling out with your refuse, Licking County
places mulitple bins in the parking lot of our Municipal Building; everything from cardboard
to aluminum can be dropped off at one easy to access location.
